SUNDAY
JANUARY 5 @ OXFORD ART FACTORY, DARLINGHURST
LYKKE
LI
Swedish
songbird Lykke Li set hearts and blogs a flutter with her brittle,
candy coated vocals. Her debut album Youth Novels solidified her status
as one of 2008's biggest breakthrough artists. At only 22, the
Stockholm sweetheart is well on her way to stardom and fortunately for
us on her way down under for her first Australian tour. Following the
summer festival junket, Lykke Li will perform one solo Sydney show. Get
a 'Little Bit' closer to Lykke Li before she's good as gone!

STEREOLAB
Seminal
UK band Stereolab are headed to our shores for the first time in six
years. They've produced some of the most consistent, experimental and
downright beautiful records of the past 17 years, elevating them to
company of legendary acts such as Yo La Tengo and Sonic Youth. Just
this year they released their brilliant 11th album, the gorgeous
Motown-flavoured Chemical
Chords. Led by the band's original songwriting
team Timothy Gane and vocalist Laetitia Sadier, the upcoming show
promises to be as epic as their expansive back catalogue.

BORN
RUFFIANS
Canadian
indie outfit Born Ruffians have been hailed as one of the best new
bands of 2008. They made tidal sound waves at this year's SXSW festival
and backed up the promise of their rollicking live performance with
'Red Yellow Blue', a ripping, taut stomper of a debut record which
features the mega fun single 'Hummingbird'. Now the kooky trio are
headed our way for the Laneways Festival tour and just one Sydney
sideshow full of surprises. Be sure to see what all the fuss is about!
